Palm Sunday

Together, Oliver and Max decided that this palm from a church service (thanks, Amy!) was a great new toy. Max chased and Oliver laughed for quite a long time. (We have learned that anything that is sustained for over 10 minutes is very long in toddler time.) Hopefully this is not sacrilegious in some way.

Mexico!

We just returned from our spring break trip to the Caribbean Sea. We stayed in Mexico just southwest of Cozumel. The weather was perfect day and night the entire time we were there: humid (in a good way), in the upper 80's, and with a constant warm wind off of the sea.

Oliver loved shedding all of the winter layers and playing in the water and sun all day long. There was also constantly new kinds of wildlife to marvel at: colorful, loud birds, lizards, iguanas, bright flowers, broad leaves, and coconuts (balls as far as Ollie was concerned). Even on nighttime walks we could watch the fireflies and the bats swooping down to eat them.

We ate our weight in yummy fresh fruit every day and were able to enjoy live music in the theaters at night. Ollie enjoyed "dancing" wildly in his stroller; we learned that if we let him out to get his groove on, all he wanted to do was try rushing up on stage.

After a good breakfast, we went swimming in the many pools before nap time.

After lunch we played on the beach and in the sea.

After nap time, we came to the playground.

We chilled in the room and watched birds from our balcony.

Oliver loved going for lots of walks to explore, and would loudly shout "hi" and wave to every person we passed along the way.

But pool time was easily the favorite!

All the activity meant we needed lots of snacks!

Iguana!

Lizard!

Oliver did his best to throw all the seaweed back in the sea, but there was always more!

We were very sad to leave!
