Oliver's 2nd Birthday

We celebrated a low-key yet still very special birthday for Oliver at home on his birthday, Tuesday the 15th. His Oma cooked us a delicious birthday dinner and Ollie's Grandma and Papa came over to eat with us. Oliver definitely knew it was his special day breaking out into his version of the happy birthday song ("Happy Daaa- aaay Yoooo- ooou!") at several appropriate moments: when Grandma brought in balloons, when he saw the decorated house, when he realized there was cake, and when he got to opens cards and presents.

Do I really have to wear this thing on my head?

TWO!!!

After dinner several of our neighbors joined us for cake and for singing. Ollie was delighted to see Baby Colin (who is starting to get quite big!), Matt, Amy, Adin and Erin.

Grandma and Papa gave Oliver this fancy truck as a gift. "Chuck" talks, spins around, and drives on his own. Ollie alternated between fear, excitement and delight as Chuck did his thing. At first he wanted to watch from the safety of a lap, but eventually became bolder, running up to Chuck and touching him then quickly running away smiling.

By the end of the night Ollie was beat; he actually asked to go to bed!
